PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I am honored and proud to serve as your president for 2005. I am deeply appreciative to Barry Melton, immediate past president, for his leadership, example and good humor throughout the years and especially during his presidency in 2004. Following in his footsteps and the many fine presidents before him, I hope to continue the tradition of worthwhile MCLE programs and lunches, which provide you, our members, with an opportunity to visit and network with your fellow bar members.

We are very fortunate this year to have Lisa Lance as Vice-President, Courtenay McKeon as Treasurer, and Dan Maguire as Secretary. I have worked with these talented folks for a few years and I know that they are dedicated bar officers.

If anyone has any ideas for programs for the coming year, please let one of your bar officers know and we will follow up and try to schedule the program. We have a number of good programs already scheduled so far this year.

Thanks to all of you for your bar membership this year.

--James Nolan

LAW DAY

Please consider reserving your lunch times on May 12 and May 13 as the tentative dates for Law Day. The theme this year is The American Jury: We the People in Action. For the Law Day celebration, we plan to have a mock jury voir dire at Woodland High School on one of those two dates. Lunches again will be provided by Steve's Pizza at a cost of $15 for the public and bar members. Lunches will again be provided by the bar association for high school students and law students volunteering to be jurors. Also very important is the Liberty Bell Award. Barry Melton, Jim Nolan and Lisa Lance are serving as a committee to select a recipient. Please contact one of them prior to April 15 if you have any non-attorneys to nominate.
